World hunger

This year’s cause is world hunger! We will be raising money, and food to help people in our community, country, and world. With the economy, it is getting harder to buy food. ($4 tomatoes. Yikes!) There are so many homeless people, and people living in poverty who need our help. Here’s a startling statistic: 30% of the world’s food is thrown away. That is a ton of food. But rock4life is not alone. There is a website called freerice.com that asks various trivia questions. For every question correct, 10 grains of rice are donated. Also anyone can donate to their local food bank. With a little effort from a lot of people, we can make a difference. Here’s an ending thought: How is it possible that America is the fattest country, but yet people are starving?

After seeing some of the pictures of children with ribs visible through their skin, it really causes reality to set in. America is so privileged, but mostly everyone takes that for granted… It’s so exciting that we have a chance to make a difference in another person’s life. So much is expected of children in Africa- they are forced to make adult decisions at such young ages. We tried imagining ourselves in those children’s’ shoes, but couldn’t even begin to comprehend the struggles of their daily lives.
